Charles Wendel, the President of Financial Institutions Consulting (FIC), had extensive practical experience as a bank lender, relationship manager, and workout specialist before becoming a management consultant. Prior to founding FIC over 20 years ago, he was a Partner at Mercer Consulting and an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Co., Inc.
Wendel has consulted to money center and regional banks, insurers, and diversified financial services companies, both in the U.S. and 15 other countries.
Key areas of his focus with financial institutions include:
- Business Banking. Growing revenues and productivity in the business, middle market, and corporate banking, and commercial finance segments
- Fintech. Working with banks to select the right Fintech lending and/or platform partner for current and emerging needs
- Alliance/Partnership Strategies. Working with Fintechs and other third-party providers on strategic, organizational, and channel issues
- Merger and acquisition opportunities. Identifying opportunities and assisting in the implementation process
Mr. Wendel is a regular contributor to BAI Banking Strategies and speaks frequently at industry conferences focusing on business banking, digital banking, and Fintech. He has also appeared on CNN, CNBC, and Bloomberg radio.
Wendel earned an M.B.A. in Finance and Marketing from Columbia University in addition to an M.A. and M.Phil. in English; he received his undergraduate degree from New York University.
